Coppa Marco Polo
In the context of the celebrations of the Historical Regatta on Friday 30th August 2024 will take place on the Grand Canal the Marco Polo Cup, an event which aims to celebrate the 700th anniversary of Marco Polo’s death with a dragon boat challenge within a team from the Venetian Universities – Cus Venezia and a team from the twinned city of Suzhou in China. The challenge will take place on small dragon boats (10 seats) within mixed teams on the distance of 200mt, with arrival at Ca’ Foscari.
The event is organized by the National Committee for the Celebrations for the 700th anniversary of Marco Polo’s death, with the contribution of the Ministry of Culture, the support of the Municipal Council of Venice and Ve.La S.p.A, the patronage of RAI Veneto and the Media partnership of RAI Cultura. The organization of the challenge is curated by Ca’ Foscari University of Venice in collaboration with Fondazione Venezia 2000.
