Campo della Salute – Blessing of the gondolini
Presentation of the crews, blessing of the sashes and boats. The ceremony will begin at 5:30 PM and will be preceded by a water procession on the Grand Canal, which will depart from the Erbaria of Rialto at 5:00 PM, heading towards the Church of the Salute. The arrival of the procession will then mark the start of the crew presentation ceremony and the blessing of the gondolini.
6.00PM – Marco Polo Cup – Dragon Boat challenge on the Grand Canal within two mixed teams on the distance of 200mt in two rounds.
In the context of the celebrations of the Historical Regatta on Friday 30th August 2024 will take place on the Grand Canal the Marco Polo Cup, an event which aims to celebrate the 700th anniversary of Marco Polo’s death with a dragon boat challenge within a team from the Venetian Universities – Cus Venezia and a team from the twinned city of Suzhou in China. The challenge will take place on small dragon boats (10 seats) within mixed teams on the distance of 200mt, with arrival at Ca’ Foscari.
On Sunday 1st September 2024, the two teams partecipates in the Historical Regatta’s Parade followed by the award ceremony.
15:10 HISTORICAL AND SPORT WATER PAGEANT: parade along the Grand Canal by historical crafts with costumed crews, boats and gondolas of the Venetian rowing associations (Voga alla Veneta). Course: St. Mark’s Bay, Grand Canal, Rialto, Railway Station and return along the Grand Canal until Ca’ Foscari.
16.00 pm – MACIARELE AND SCHIE REGATTA: two oared regatta on mascarete dedicated to children.

INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITIES BOAT CHALLENGE
After the passage of Caorline (match for third place) and after the passage of Gondolini (final)
Challenge on eight-oared galeoni boats by the crew of Ca’ Foscari and Iuav Universities of Venice versus the teams of other Universities.
Course: From Rialto to Ca’ Foscari.
5.40 pm – WOMEN’S TWIN-OARED MASCARETE REGATTA
Course: St. Mark’s Bay, Grand Canal, Rialto (around the paleto in front of San Marcuola), and back down the Grand Canal to finish at Ca’ Foscari.
6.10 pm – TWIN-OARED GONDOLINI REGATTA
Course: St. Mark’s Bay, Grand Canal, Rialto (around the paleto in front of San Marcuola), and back down the Grand Canal to finish at Ca’ Foscari.
Presentation of the crews, blessing of the belts and of the boats. The ceremony is preceded by a water parade in Grand Canal from Rialto to the Salute church.

The International Universities Rowing Race in the Grand Canal, organized by Ca’ Foscari University of Venice in collaboration with Iuav University of Venice and CUS Venezia, has been held since 2004 on board of historical galleons on the occasion of the Historical Regatta.
A term indicating the obligation for the racers not to attempt overtaking manoeuvres at the turn of the paleto or according to the order of the jury.
